Hiking in Utah is pretty amazing all year long, but as the weather starts to cool off in early fall, it gets even better. Here’s a sweet hike that takes you to a waterfall, and you’ll be overwhelmed with its natural beauty.
You’ll find the trailhead to the Bells Canyon Trail along Wasatch Boulevard in Sandy. Watch for signs right around 10245 South.

The first section of this 4.4-mile out and back trail is pretty easy, and suitable for hikers of most ages and abilities.

Just a half-mile in, you’ll come to Bell Canyon Reservoir. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic. Remember that this area is watershed, and pack out any trash you bring in.

Because it’s so close to the city, this trail is particularly popular. For a quiet hike, you’ll want to get started nice and early, and visit during a weekday if possible.

Once you’re past the reservoir, the trail gets very difficult. Be prepared for some boulder scrambling, and a steep elevation gain. You’ll definitely want to wear good hiking shoes for this one!
