Hiking in Utah is pretty amazing all year long, but as the weather starts to cool off in early fall, it gets even better. Here’s a sweet hike that takes you to a waterfall, and you’ll be overwhelmed with its natural beauty.

You’ll find the trailhead to the Bells Canyon Trail along Wasatch Boulevard in Sandy. Watch for signs right around 10245 South.

Just a half-mile in, you’ll come to Bell Canyon Reservoir. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic. Remember that this area is watershed, and pack out any trash you bring in.

Because it’s so close to the city, this trail is particularly popular. For a quiet hike, you’ll want to get started nice and early, and visit during a weekday if possible.

You’ll find some small little waterfalls along the stream here, and you just can’t beat this scenery.

Once you’re past the reservoir, the trail gets very difficult. Be prepared for some boulder scrambling, and a steep elevation gain. You’ll definitely want to wear good hiking shoes for this one!

Depending on the timing of your visit, Bell’s Falls might be an impressive cascade…

…or more of a pretty trickle down the face of the rocks. Either way, you’ll want to soak in the beauty of this pretty spot before heading back.
