The best bakery in Delaware has been serving up Italian breads and sweets for generations, and it’s so worth a stop next time you’re in Wilmington. The story of Serpe and Sons begins way back in 1952, when Domenico and Lucille Serpe opened their first bakery in Wilmington

Within a few years, the older Serpe sons were staffing a store that sold cakes, cinnamon buns, and even a delicious tomato pie. Local restaurants loved the Serpe family, and their single delivery truck helped spread the word. By 1964, the bakery moved to 1411 Kirkwood Highway in Elsmere, where it still stands today.
During the holiday season, Serpe and Sons bake thousands of cakes and cookies, and the line is often out the door!
