The best thing about this overlook is that there’s no hiking required. Simply drive on up and enjoy the view. You’ll notice the overlook comes complete with a picnic table, wooden deck, viewing telescope, and restroom. It’s a great place to just slow down, relax, and take in the view.

Speaking of the view, prepare to be in complete awe! Here you’ll have a pristine look at both the magnificent Wheeler Peak (13,063 feet) and Jeff Davis Peak (12,630 feet). On top of that, panoramic views allow you to get a full look at the park’s mountains and valleys to the south and east.

The overlook also contains a small plaque that is dedicated to Stephen Tyng Mather. Mather is decribed as laying the foundation of the National Park Service and establishing the policies under which its areas were developed. The plaque states that “there will never be an end to the good that he has done”.
