When you’re feeling a bit “nature deprived”, a quick hike in one of our gorgeous landscapes is a must. Nevada is home to so many incredible trails; each one boasting something unique and memorable. However, the trail featured below stands above them all (literally). This delightful trail will give you a bit of a leg workout, but you’ll find that the views are so worth it. Treating you to jaw-dropping views from start to finish, this is one incredible hike you won’t be forgetting any time soon.

Located near Kingsbury, the Genoa Trail System is home to a plethora of stunning hikes that are worth checking out. One of them is the Genoa Loop in Genoa Canyon. This is an 8-mile long loop trail that will treat you to some of the most inspiring views of the Carson Valley.

The trail starts in the historic town of Genoa at the end of Carson Street. From there, the trail leads you along slopes and ridges surrounded by dense thickets of pine forests.

As part of the Genoa Trail System, the Genoa Canyon Trail actually joins up with other trails in the system. This makes it easy to create a new adventure every time you traverse the trail.

The trail will begin to follow a creek for some time before continuing along a chain of mildly challenging switchbacks. As you begin to ascend the slope of Genoa Canyon, you’ll be treated to some breathtaking views of Genoa, the meandering Carson River, and the valley below. It’s simply extraordinary!

After completing this section of the trail, the Genoa Canyon Trail will join up with the Discovery Trail for roughly one mile. You’ll cross a lovely little creek that goes down into Kingsbury before reaching the Genoa Waterfall.

You don’t have to traverse the entire eight miles in order to get the full effect. In fact, many people make it their mission to visit the Genoa Waterfall which can be found after approximately three miles before turning back. The choice is yours. Whatever you do, stop and take a few minutes to rest in this beautiful spot.

The abundant beauty surrounding you will encourage you to keep going forward. At this point, the trail will coninue north into Schoolhouse Canyon and Sierra Canyon before arriving at the Eagle Ridge Trail access point.
