When most people bring up Nevada’s sand dunes, they are usually referring to the unique and wonderful Sand Mountain near Fallon (also known as our very own “Singing Sand Dune”). However, it would be a mistake to gloss over the incredible Winnemucca Sand Dunes. After all, they are considered the largest sand dune field in Nevada. And believe us—they are impressive. The sight of these magnificent sand dunes is something every Nevadan should experience, considering it’s definitely one of the most breathtaking sights in the world.
Located north of the town they are named after, the Winnemucca Sand Dunes are a glorious sight to see. Spanning a whopping 40 miles along U.S. Route 95, they are considered the largest sand dune field in Nevada. This is definitely one of those places that everybody should see at least once in their lifetime.
