There’s nothing like a fluffy biscuit, slathered with butter and homemade raspberry jam. It’s normally the kind of thing that’s best from your grandma’s kitchen, but there’s a restaurant in Salt Lake City that’s well-known for its amazing biscuits, and people drive from all over to get them.

Ruth’s Diner opened in 1930, and for the last 88 years, it’s been serving up delicious meals in a beautiful setting. You’ll find Ruth’s just a few miles up Emigration Canyon at 4160 Emigration Canyon Rd., Salt Lake City, UT 84108.

If you’re coming for brunch on the weekend, this area will be full of hungry folks waiting for a table. The wait can be an hour or so, but the umbrella tables, cup of free coffee and a copy of City Weekly make the time fly by.

The restaurant originally just consisted of this trolley car that was towed from downtown up the canyon. It’s since been expanded, but you can still sit in the old trolley car.

During summer months, the place to dine is on Ruth’s back patio. It’s one of the largest patios in the state, so there’s plenty of seating. You’ll enjoy hanging out under the huge trees while breathing the fresh, mountain air.
