With a long history, New Hampshire has some interesting stories. This time of year those stories tend to be more nefarious and spooky than simple history lessons. For one of the most creepy, head to Hollis for a visit to the most haunted cemetery in New England!

Pine Hill Cemetery in Hollis is said to be one of the most haunted burial grounds in all of New England.

In a region of America that has some of the oldest history in the country, it comes as no surprise that spirits are lurking.

Visitors to the cemetery report hearing tapping sounds coming from all directions, as well as unexplained chills and coldness even on warm days.

In the evening, people have reported seeing orbs and flashes of light coming from areas where no electricity or lights exist.

While all of these reports are enough to keep us far, far away from Pine Hill Cemetery it’s the stories of the Blood family that truly scare us. And it’s this family that give the burial ground its “Blood Cemetery” nickname. But, the reason might not be the obvious one.

The Blood family has a large plot in the cemetery and, while not confirmed, many people believe the entire family was murdered.

Whatever fate caused them all to be buried here together, it’s believed that Abel Blood’s spirit remained here after his 1867 burial. In fact, visit the dark cemetery at night and you might find the finger on his headstone eerily pointing down rather than up towards the heavens as it is during the day.
