We’ve shared quite a few ideas for ways to enjoy spring in Kentucky, but this particular event may just be the most enchanting. The city of Paducah in western Kentucky is filled with natural beauty and creative spirit, and they celebrate it every chance they get.

There’s so much to experience in this town (we’ve even called it the coolest in the country), and springtime is no exception. One of the most beloved traditions in Paducah happens in April and it’s called The Dogwood Trail. This is no typical trail, as you’ll venture through the city, visiting the most beautiful Dogwood trees and other lovely gardens, but the best part of this celebration is that you can visit it in the moonlight! It may just be most magic you’ll experience this spring.

Paducah’s 54th Annual Dogwood Trail Celebration is happening now, and if you’ve never heard of this springtime event in Kentucky, it’s sure to be on your must-see list very soon.

It probably comes as no surprise that this vibrant town has held this lovely tradition since 1964.

The main feature of this event is the Dogwood Trail that includes Historic Downtown, the Lower Town Arts District, and other residential neighborhoods, but there are actually several activities that you can enjoy during the peak season of the Dogwoods.

The Trail is marked throughout the town, so you can take a self-guided tour by car, on a bicycle, or however you choose.

During the day, the route focuses on the history and natural beauty of the city and neighborhoods, but as the sun goes down, the flowering trees and gardens are illuminated for a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Dogwoods are the real stars of the show, and you’ll find them in front of beautiful homes, decorating historic buildings, and adding plenty of color and enchantment to the season.

It’s a fairly common outing in the springtime to take to a trail and seek out wildflowers and blooming trees, but it’s not often that you can continue to enjoy these incredible flowers at night, under the moonlight.
