Pittsburgh’s all about food and tradition. Consider the cookie table as an example. But, that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Pittsburgh’s rich culinary traditions, which include everything from fries on sandwiches to chipped ham. This old-fashioned, soft pretzel shop in Pittsburgh knows a little something about tradition. After all, it’s been a Pittsburgh staple since 1927.

Sat along Carson Street in the South Side, The Pretzel Shop started with vendors selling the hand-twisted pretzels on Pittsburgh’s many street corners.

Today, the storefront on the South Side still uses its original brick oven, which dates back to 1872, to bake its famous pretzels.
