The story of how this place got its start is quirky, but charming. The original owner, Lloyd Ash, kept having dreams about a purple turtle, and felt that it should be a restaurant. He took out a $10,000 business loan, and the rest is history.

The Purple Turtle has been a vibrant part of the community ever since. The second owner started working at the restaurant in high school, and purchased it in 1979. Over the years, hundreds of local high school students have worked here, and many are children and even grandchildren of former employees.

This is the place to go when you’re craving a juicy burger, and fries or onion rings. The “pink sauce” is some of the best fry sauce in the Beehive State.
