New Jersey has so many wonderful, unique, quirky eateries that are sure to delight. However, one of them is (sadly) closing soon. A staple for years, the property will soon be home to a WaWa. While it’s still standing, you won’t want to miss it.

The Chatterbox Drive-In is a retro auto-themed diner that’s straight out of the 1950s. They also feature vintage posters and memorabilia.

A beloved Sussex County staple since 2003, this eatery has won countless awards including “best restaurant” and “best burger.” It’s a perfect date night destination or pick for family fun.

A destination restaurant, people come from all over to dine at this unique spot. What makes it so quirky? For starters, there’s a car smack dab in the middle of the eatery. Centerpiece cars have included a 1969 Chevy Camaro Convertible, 1931 Franklin 153 Deluxe Club Sedan, 1970 Shelby GT 500, and the 1969 Chevrolet C10 pictured.

It’s not just the center of the restaurant that shines, the walls are decked out too! The interior is vibrant and cheery.

Another lovely little quirk is the kids’ meals…they’re served in mini convertibles. How cool!

Adults can have fun with their food, too. Their diverse menu includes deep fried dogs, lobster rolls, pierogies, grilled chicken, and inventive creations like the Big Bad John, topped with pulled pork and homemade mac n’ cheese. Though “bad” is in the name, it’s very, very good.

And the desserts are to dine for! Pictured is their mouthwatering blueberry pie. My personal favorite is the Cookie Dough-Licious. I want one right now!

Adding to the experience is their bike and cruise nights. Bike nights are Thursdays and cruise nights are Saturdays. Every second Friday of the month, it’s all about the Corvettes! They really bring in a crowd.

You can find the Chatterbox Drive-In at 1 State Highway 15, Augusta. They are open daily (except Tuesday) from 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.. While the restaurant alone is worth a drive, there are some awesome attractions in the area. Don’t miss the Sterling Hill Mining Museum and their gorgeous glow tunnel!
