New sites and attractions are constantly being opened in Mississippi, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is one of the state’s most recent additions. Opened just last year, it spans hundreds of feet and is a replica of the famous wall in Washington D.C. Truly an incredible site, the memorial is a must-visit. Take a look:

Up until last year, visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall meant traveling to Washington D.C. But as of November 2, 2017, it’s as simple as trekking to Tupelo’s Veterans Park.

Made of black granite, Tupelo’s wall is a 60% scaled version of the one in Washington D.C.

Stretching 300 feet, it features the names of 58,318 veterans killed or gone missing in Vietnam.

Among the thousands of names are 997 service members killed on their 1st day in Vietnam.

Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, the massive wall brings to life the sacrifices made by those who serve our country.

Remember, the wall is located within Veterans Park, so you can make a whole day of your visit to the memorial. In addition to the wall, the lakeside park includes an aquatic center, splash pad, disc golf, and nature trails.
