If you’ve ever wanted to walk through a fantasy universe, now’s your chance. One amazing art exhibit at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) is letting visitors do just that.

“Chalkboard” is the brainchild of acclaimed mixed media artist Laurie Anderson and Hsin-Chien Huang. Basically, it invites guests to don a virtual reality headset and fly through a fantastical yet strangely realistic world where huge structures are formed out of words, drawings, and stories.

Mass MoCA It’s hard to describe this experience on paper, but guests have reported you can choose rooms and activities within the virtual reality world. You have controllers in your hands as well as a headset that allows you to navigate through the world at your chosen speed and direction. Visitors can explore underwater situations, roam forests where the trees have words for leaves, and even fly through the air.

Guests have said that the flying portion of the experience feels remarkable and freeing. Some have even claimed they were momentarily convinced that they really had left the ground.
