The art of the written word saw no greater prominence when the printing press was invented. It is the first form of mass media, the way the dissemination of knowledge was communicated for about five centuries, before the invention of film, and later, television and the internet. And the medium is still going strong, as this festival in Charleston demonstrates.

The West Virginia Book Festival is an annual event at the Charleston Civic Center for all bibliophiles, featuring author panels, signings, workshops and vendors.
