If you take the time to hike our mountains and explore between the trees, you’ll find plenty of things up in the Adirondacks that you didn’t know existed. An amazing place for everyone in the family to enjoy, spots like The Wild Center in Tupper Lake features a variety of ways to stay busy on a beautiful summer day. Spread out on more than 100-acres of land in the mountains, find out why this natural history museum is actually New York’s most whimsical playground.

Up where you can find a beautiful Adirondack waterway and mountains everywhere you turn, The Wild Center in Tupper Lake combines both education and fun.

Between The Wild Center’s entrance and the parking lot, you’ll find a large map that will help give you an idea of how everything is spread out - with plenty of smaller maps to take with you once you get inside.

But once you’re done exploring inside The Wild Center, you’ll want to visit one of our favorite playgrounds at the other end of the parking lot.

An addition to The Wild Center that opened up to the public back in 2015, The Wild Walk is a treetop trail unlike any other in New York State.

Starting off at the ground, the boardwalks gradually elevate you to the treetops and give you amazing views of the mountains.

Along the way, you’ll find opportunities to look for wildlife as you walk through and around the cones of The Wild Walk.

You’ll get to explore the different sections of the walk like The Snag, featuring three swinging bridges that will lead you to a treehouse and hollowed out tree that has its own spiral staircase.

The highest point of The Wild Walk is the Eagle’s Nest, taking you an extra 8-feet above the rest of the walk.

The Eagle’s Nest will give you the best views of New York’s High Peaks, all without having to climb any actual mountains.

At the base of the Eagle’s Nest, you’ll find several viewing points that are labeled to let you know which mountains you’re looking at if you can’t recognize them!

The magic of The Wild Walk continues as you make your way over to one of the most exhilarating parts of this adventure - a life-sized Shamrock spider web.

24-feet above the ground, the enormous spider web will leave you suspended above the Adirondack forest and will put your bravery to the ultimate test.
