Fall foliage is starting to emerge in Utah, covering the landscape in red, orange and yellow. It’s the perfect season for hiking – trails are brightened by vibrant colors, and the weather is nice and mild. If you love fall hiking, this trail will take you to some of the most spectacular foliage in the state.

Logan Canyon is always a go-to spot for gorgeous fall foliage, and this year is no exception. The vibrant colors of autumn are already popping up here.

The Wind Cave Trail is a popular hiking trail year-round, and it will take you high above the canyon for a magnificent view of the colorful leaves. To find the trailhead, take the Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway about 5.3 miles up the canyon and watch for signs on the left-hand side of the road.

The hike up to Wind Cave is only about 3.5 miles, out and back, but it’s considered moderate because of the 1,000-foot elevation change you’ll experience.

You’ll have some great views of Logan Canyon’s China Wall, and early on in the hike you’ll be able to see your destination above - a unique rock formation called Wind Cave.

The cave isn’t really a cave at all, but rather a triple arch that was formed thousands of years ago by wind erosion.
