This season means twinkling lights, remembering what we’re grateful for and hopefully, a little snow. Each yeah in Maine small towns around the state come alive to help celebrate Christmas. Each town has their own special traditions that we look forward to, but the things that happen in Waterville beginning just after Thanksgiving enchant us in a unique way.

During any other time of year, Waterville is a normal town. The type you might see anywhere.

And Santa sets up shop to meet with local families.

And, to help make him feel at home while he’s away from the North Pole, Santa’s temporary home at Castonguay Square is made cozy and twinkly as can be.

Santa meets children every weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas, giving each one a free storybook courtesy of the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce. Literacy is an important mission of the local business community and this is just one way to help improve the lives of the young people in Waterville…err, Kringleville!
