All-Merciful Saviour Monastery is a monastic community of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, and it happens to be the only male Orthodox monastery in Washington.

It’s easy to see why Vashon was chosen for the monastery’s home.

The property includes includes a main temple dedicated to the Protection of the Holy Virgin, a small chapel dedicated to their patron saint, a library and community room, a bookstore and office building, and seven monastic cabins.

The monks care for two big gardens, cultivating organic vegetables, berries, and wine grapes.

The church hosts two Sunday services as well as several services throughout the week (more during lent).
