Our great wine culture is rooted in our state’s history and many places along the Missouri River have become successful in wine production. Weston sits along the Missouri River right along the Kansas border just north of Kansas City. The little town is home to many wineries and vineyards, but one special winery is now housed in a 19th century church. This peaceful place is one stop in Missouri that you don’t want to miss.
Pirtle Winery was established in Weston, Missouri in 1978. They’re one of the oldest family owned wineries in the state. Their tasting room is uniquely beautiful, and you’ll have to come by for a glass of wine and see it for yourself.

You might notice that the beautiful brick building has a certain spirituality about it. In fact, you may not be surprised when you find out Pirtle Winery is actually housed in the old Lutheran Evangelical Church. Constructed in 1867 by German immigrants, the beautiful church has found a new calling in modern times.

More than 15 wines in many different styles are offered at Pirtle. Bottling occurs right across the street in their production building.

For some, wine tasting can be an enlightening experience. Visit Pirtle Winery on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., weekends from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
