Once upon a time, mills played a vital role in the Colorado economy, but are now merely reminders of a different time. While most of these historic buildings are no more, there are still a few intact, including this incredible old Colorado mill that you will want to see while you still can:
At the turn of the 20th century, mining was huge throughout Colorado, and historic Park County was no exception. It housed such rich quarries as the Orphan Boy, Sweet Home, and London Mines.

While most of these old buildings are closed down and abandoned, a handful still stand.

One of these remnants is the Paris Mill.

Completed in 1895, the Paris Mill was built to service the nearby Paris Mine, which it did until operations came to a permanent halt in 1937.

The Paris Mine was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. It’s a well-preserved gem that still has many of its original features and is currently undergoing extensive preservation.

Because of its age and current renovations, the inside of the Paris Mill is closed, but it does open occasionally for guided tours.
