With a nickname like Land of 10,000 Lakes, it’s no wonder that Minnesota is an oasis for nature lovers from far and wide. On top of our lakes, we have more than 60 state parks, a stunningly beautiful national park, the Boundary Waters, and more. That doesn’t even cover the many towns that are surrounded by natural beauty. One of our favorites is a North Shore destination that is a nature lover’s dream. Take a look:
Grand Marais, Minnesota is one of the prettiest towns along Minnesota’s North Shore. You’ll find it 110 miles north of Duluth on Highway 61.

But perhaps the town’s greatest treasure is its natural beauty. Panoramic views of Lake Superior are beautiful, especially from popular outlooks such as Artists Point.

For those who prefer calmer waters, the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area offers ample opportunity to see northern lakes and thick forests.

And if you’d rather stay in the car, the Gunflint Trail is a beautiful drive — especially in the fall. Many consider it the best place to spot a moose in Minnesota!

All in all, Grand Marais is the perfect place to visit if you’re a nature lover in Minnesota. We recommend planning your trip soon for a front-row view of the changing leaves!
