The town of Tishomingo has always been a beloved town of Oklahomans, including country music superstar, Blake Shelton. In fact, Shelton loves it so much he decided to open a restaurant in town. Tishomingo is located in south-central Oklahoma about 115 miles south of Oklahoma City. The town has just over 3,000 residents and is a charming place to visit.

The town has gained national notoriety this past year due to the recent opening of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red Restaurant.

In fact, when the restaurant opened, there was a line as far as the eye could see. People came from all over the country to see what this little town had to offer.

Thousands gathered outdoors to hear a special concert by Shelton on the opening weekend of the restaurant. Don’t worry, the town isn’t always this crowded (at least not yet!).

Tishomingo is also rich in history and one place you’ll want to visit is The Chickasaw National Capitol Building. This historic building was built in 1898 and now serves as a museum open to the public.

And all you shoppers, have to visit Junk Stars - a local junk store (or so they say) owned by Blake Shelton’s mother. Just look for the pickup truck sticking out from the building just off Main Street.
