Nothing is more iconic to West Virginia than Tudor’s Biscuit World. Biscuits are a staple of the West Virginia diet and when biscuits aren’t made from scratch by Mom or Dad, they are made the same way at Tudor’s.

Tudor’s Biscuit World was first created in 1980 by Bill and Mae Tudor, along with their son, John Tudor. The first location was on Washington Street in Charleston, but slowly grew from there. Now there are Tudor’s locations in several states, including Ohio, Kentucky and Virginia. There is even a location in Panama City, Florida, opened in 2016.

John officially became a part of the business when he graduated from ECU two months after the grand opening of the first location. Many more stores were opened in both Charleston and Huntington over the following years. Eventually, new locations opened outside the state and the business began selling franchises.

Tudor’s is known for its friendly staff as much as it is known for its biscuits. But the biscuits are still the star of the show.

Primarily a breakfast restaurant, Tudor’s serves several breakfast platters, all of which include a biscuit. But of course, Tudor’s wouldn’t be Tudor’s without their biscuit and gravy platter. Comprised of homemade biscuits and gravy, the dish is simple and filling. But you can always have gravy poured over any biscuit on your plate. All you have to do is ask.

They also have a series of breakfast sandwiches with toppings comprised of sausage, ham or bacon. You can also order platters that include pancakes, eggs, meats, and fried apples.

Their dinner menu consists of platters of meatloaf, roast beef, chicken, baked steak, fish and pork chops. However, you will not find all the locations open for dinner. Many locations close around 2:00 p.m.
