The only catch? Your cat or dog must be 20 pounds or under to take advantage of this travel deal. Choosing to ride the rails with your pet is a much less expensive ordeal than having them fly with you in the cabin of an airplane.
If you do decide to bring your pet along with you on Amtrak, you can book a reservation online. Pet owners will be required to sign a Pet Release and Indemnification Agreement, basically claiming responsibility for their pet while traveling with Amtrak. Owners will also be required to provide their own pet carrier, one that can either be soft or hard, and must be well-ventilated and leak-proof.
