I can barely contain my excitement. As a huge Harry Potter fan, visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios has been a dream of mine for years. While it hasn’t happened yet, I can experience the next best thing right here in my home state. The tiny town of Newton will be transforming into a magical wonderland over Thanksgiving weekend, and you won’t want to miss it.
From 1:30 – 5:30 PM on November 24th, immerse yourself in the wizarding world.
Facebook/Greater Newton Chamber of Commerce Following Newton’s holiday parade, the town will become a wizarding wonderland. There will be a quiddich match and lessons, a cosplay contest (at 3 p.m. in front of the fire house), scavenger hunt, spell classes, aerial yoga performances, a spot for people to color their own patronus, owls delivering letters to Santa, and so much more. You can even get sorted into your Hogwarts house!
There will also be food trucks, live music, and vendors. Plus, loads of local businesses are getting in on the fun!
Facebook/Between The Bread Over 30 businesses are involved - The Barrel House, Between the Bread, O’Reilly’s Pub and Grill, and La Famiglia will all have magic-themed food and drink specials. Black Dog Books will be selling magic-themed books and other wares, Charcoal Moons will be selling wands and clothes, Robin Lennon will be selling shimmery magical-themed sashes, cloaks, and other supplies, and Maxwell and Molly’s will be selling wizard-themed dog bandannas.For interactive fun, Scissor Joint is doing fairy hair and magical bath bomb presentations, Scentsible Addictions is going to be doing “Potion Lotions,” where you can make your own lotions, and Gravity Designworks will have their parking lot decked out as a whole photo booth area with signs and decorations available for purchase.
Now in its second year, the event is bigger and even better than before. It has been revamped to accommodate larger crowds and additional businesses are taking part.
