What could be more deliciously fun than a hike filled with amazing views, wildflowers and blueberry bushes? This trail will take you on a hiking adventure like no other – and if it also happens to be late Summer, then you’ll be arriving just in time for ripening blueberries.
The Forney Ridge Trail to Andrew’s Bald leaves from the parking lot of Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains.

The trail winds uphill through a dense forest covered in moss and presenting many shady spots. The bonus to climbing a hill that has a lot of big rocks? Plenty of places to sit and rest if you need to!

A mountaintop that’s referred to as a ‘bald’ is simply one where trees don’t normally grow, leaving a ‘bald’ spot where only wildflowers and rhododendrons, and other small bushes, will flourish.
