Fort Adams State Park is a fascinating part of America’s history, and there’s plenty to see and do here. You’ll find the park at 80 Fort Adams Dr., Newport, RI 02840.

The park is home to the largest coastal fort in the country, which functioned as an Army post from 1841 to 1950. You’ll want to tour this incredible fort; tours run daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

The tour takes you deep inside the fort, where you’ll see the officers’ quarters, and walk through some of the tunnels under the fort.

Take the Fort Adams Bay Walk, which takes you 2.5 miles around the perimeter. You’ll have some excellent views of the harbor, bridge and bay.
