Hiking in Maine can take many forms. From woodland forest treks to sky-high mountain peaks to our personal favorite – coastal trails with magnificent views of the water. This one, in Harpswell, is actually considered a geologic wonder. The crashing waves along the shore are the result of rock formations that you won’t find many other places in the state. It’s not hidden and fairly easy to find, but it’s certainly one of the most interesting natural wonders in Maine.
You’ll find the beautiful Giant’s Stairs Trail by crossing the Cribstone Bridge to Bailey Island.

Another fun outdoor trip is the short hike to these impressive falls. The best part? There are enough swimming holes here to keep you busy all day.
